科技教育是学习有目的地应用知识(例如:信息和通信科技、物料和结构、营运和制造、策略和管理、系统和控制及科技与生活)、技能及经验,去运用资源创制建构,和更新产品和系统,以满足人类需要。

科技教育有关的是因应本地和全球于社会、经济及科技发展在不同时空的侧重点。追源溯始,香港科技教育的发展,可上溯至二十世纪三十年代的初级工业。五十年代后期发展的工科、六十年代后期的职业先修及其相关、八十年代的电脑科,及九七年的新工艺,都成了孕育科技教育学习领域(二千年)的摇篮。

科技教育的宗旨是要在瞬息万变的科技世界中,培育优质的人力资源,能发展科技能力、科技理解和科技觉知能明辨慎思地评价科技为个人、家庭、社会及环境所带来的影响成为整个科技世界及社会出类拔萃兼且踌躇满志的成员。


Applied knowledge of science and technology education (For example: information and communication technology, materials and structure, operation and manufacturing, strategy and management, system and control, technology and life), skills and experience, to use resources to create, construct, and update products and systems to meet human needs.

Science and technology education is about responding to local and global social, economic and technological development in different time and space. Tracing back to the beginning, the development of science and technology education in Hong Kong can be traced back to the primary industry in the 1930s. The engineering course developed in the late 1950s, the pre-vocational courses and related courses in the late 1960s, the computer course in the 1980s, and the new technology in 1997 have all become the cradle of cultivating the field of science and technology education (2000 years) .

The purpose of science and technology education is to cultivate high-quality human resources in the rapidly changing world of science and technology, to develop technological capabilities, technological understanding and technological awareness, to discriminately evaluate the impact of technology on individuals, families, society and the environment. Outstanding and confident members of the entire technological world and society.
